An easy three day bike ride along the coast, starting in the beachside suburb of Thirroul and following the coast south to the dramatic headland and lighthouse in Kiama.

Children love this ride, which starts out flat but has a few hills by the last day. There’s plenty to see and do along the way, with stunning beaches, parks, bushland walks, rivers, a temple, and plenty of playgrounds and cafes.

Day 1 starts at Thirroul Station at midday. You and your family are provided with bikes and cycling equipment, maps and ride notes and water bottles, and we collect your luggage to take to the hotel – leaving you free to enjoy the ride! Your afternoon’s cycle is on the beautiful Illawarra Coastal Cycle Path, which travels along beaches and past lagoons and wetlands, right into Wollongong. Spend the night at the luxurious Novotel Wollongong Northbeach, right opposite the beach.

Day 2 starts with a short cycle past Wollongong Boat Harbour before heading inland a little way to the Nan Tien Temple, the biggest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere. You can explore the temples and gardens, and there’s a great tea-house for noodles also. Then its onwards, down to Lake Illawarra. Most of the afternoon is spent cycling around the lake before heading to your accommodation at the Windang Caravan Park or the . Lots to explore as you are close to the beaches!

On Day 3, You have a lovely gentle cycle in the morning to the lovely village of Shellharbour, where you have a great selection of cafes and restaurants. The cycle then takes you to the mouth of the Minnamurra River, and then along the dramatic coastline to the picturesque seaside town of Kiama. Finish your trip with a cycle around the headland and blowhole before relaxing at the Sebel Harbourside Kiama with a celebratory drink.

Optional Extra:

You’re feeling triumphant and nicely tired after that great cycle – so why rush home? We can easily provide you with an extra night or two at the Sebel Harbourside Kiama so that you can relax and explore this pretty town. The Kiama Coastal Walk is said to be one of NSW best kept secrets and it starts right in Kiama.

    The cycling holiday we enjoyed from Wollongong to Kiama was terrific. Well organised and good support with some lovely personal touches – such as the cheese, dips and chips we were delighted to find in our fridge at the end of our second day.
